Jarod Shadowsong (brother), Shalasyr (sister-in-law)
Maiev Shadowsong is the leader of the night elf Wardens, and is the Warden that guarded the prison of Illidan Stormrage for over 10,000 years below Mount Hyjal. Once he escaped his prison, thanks to Tyrande Whisperwind, Maiev chased down Illidan all over Azeroth and eventually followed him to the Black Temple in Shadowmoon Valley on Outland. There, alongside Akama and a group of adventurers, she defeated Illidan, with his final words being, "The huntress is nothing without the hunt." Afterwards, she captured the remaining Illidari and locked them and Illidan's body away in the Vault of the Wardens on the Broken Isles. Illidan's last words later break Maiev, and after The Shattering she lost her mind and nearly killed her own brother, Jarod Shadowsong. After Jarod and Malfurion Stormrage foiled her plot to kill the Highborne, she ran away from night elf society.
When the Burning Legion returned to Azeroth, a massive group of demons led by Gul'dan from an alternate universe attacked the Vault of the Wardens. Maiev was ultimately forced to release the Illidari demon hunters to aid in the fight against the demons. Soon, Maiev discovered that Gul'dan and the traitorous warden Cordana Felsong were after Illidan's body. Gul'dan teleported Illidan's body through a portal and then went through it with Cordana. Maiev pursued them through the portal, telling the demon hunters to find Khadgar. The portal led to Black Rook Hold in Val'sharah, where Maiev was imprisoned by demons and tortured by the long dead souls of Black Rook Hold, re-awakened when Gul'dan performed a ritual to send Illidan's soul from his body and send it to the Twisting Nether. Weeks later, Maiev was freed by her brother Jarod.
Maiev later led a group alongside Illidan to explore the Cathedral of Eternal Night on the Broken Shore.
