World of Warcraft: The Fall of Uther was the seventh expansion in Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft. In it, Lordaeron returns, more powerful than ever, as well as being corrupted my dark magics by the dreaded Lich King Arthas Menethil―in which it had apparently happened over twenty years ago just before he was slain by Tirion Fordring and the souls he took using Frostmourne.
Lordaeron's return causes there to be a successor of the weakly-known Lich King, Bolvar Fordragon, in which he was orginally a man named Forbane Ninhag. He is later slain by Yana Bloodspear, (new leader of the Argent Crusade after Tirion Fordring's death), Drasgar Paladinous, Gazy, and Sylvanas Windrunner. Forabane's spirit later said: There must always be a Lich King, as well as its successor. Upon this, Yana would take the large burden. But she is later stopped by the newly-made―flesh and bone―Uther the Lightbringer. Uther says he would have to be the successor, and that he'd sacrifice himself, even when he was just made once more. Just like Bolvar Fordragon said to Tirion Fordring: You and these brave heroes have a grim destiny, Uther said just that. And they left the now rebuilt Lordaeron―the once Undercity―barely escaping the wrath of Uther.
Later Uther goes to the Icecrown Citadel to slay the Lich King and take his place as Lich King. He however did not slay Bolvar Fordragon, instead he gravely weakened him, and then Uther was fully corrupted, becoming the new Lich King―instead of blue or orange eyes, gold, like the Paladin he once was. Bolvar was taken away by Varian Wrynn and Yana, then Gazy and Drasgar fought the new Lich King. But after a long battle Drasgar was pinned to the ground by the fallen Uther, as he remade the Frostmourne. He used the blade to attempt to take the Paladin's soul . . . until the Light protected him, causing Uther to fall backwards and onto the Frozen Throne. Drasgar weakly escaped with Gazy―Uther screaming within no victory.
Once again . . . a war against the Lich King started, this time it wasn't much kept a secret for Northrend.
